Homebuyers Invest in Abbeyview

A milestone has been reached in the ongoing regeneration of Abbeyview with the first sales of Shared Equity houses by Fife Housing Association in Allan Crescent this week.

The first “Homestake” properties were purchased by first time buyers in Abbeyview earlier this week.   The basis of Homestake is that purchasers buy a share in the property (normally 60% of the Valuation) and become outright owners.   Through time they can purchase the remaining 40% if they wish to do so.   Interest in the product has been high despite the effects of the credit crunch.   Kerry-Anne Westerman who has been administering the sale of the houses for the Association is pleased with the current level of sales:  “We still have a number of vacant units, but the level of interest has been good despite the difficult mortgage market at present”.

Anyone interested in finding out about the scheme and details of units still available in Abbeyview or in Cameron Drive, Kirkcaldy, should contact Kerry-Anne on 01383 606162.
