Community Safety - Night Time Noise Team

A night-time noise team is on the case in Fife - helping make sure we all get a peaceful night's sleep.

Anyone making a noise nuisance could face a spot fine of £100 if they refuse to turn down the volume.

Fife Council's Environmental Services said "The team works between 5.30pm and 3.30am and since July 2006 has received around 1350 complaints about late night noise - everything from DIY and barking dogs to loud music.

"Complaints are passed to the Noise Team from the police.  The team will try to sort out the complaint before taking any further action but if noise levels persist, a fixed penalty notice can ben issued".

If anyone wants to report late night noise to the team, they can do so by contacting their local police station or police contact centre.

For additional advice on noise pollution telephone contact numbers are West Fife 01383 313850, Central Fife 01592 417724 and East Fife 01334 412720
