Become a board member

If you want to take your membership further and have more of a say in how Fife Housing Association is run, then you might want to consider Board Membership.

What's the next step?

A good way to find out if Board Membership is for you is to arrange to observe a Board meeting. It will give you a good idea of how your Association is run.

For further information contact Member Services.

Election of Board Members?

Board Members are normally elected at the Annual General Meeting, but we can also fill any vacancies which arise in the course of the year. There are 17 places on the Board, and at each AGM, a third of the Board must retire. The meeting then goes on to elect members to the vacancies.

But I've never done anything like this before!

That's not a problem. All new Board Members are given full training on an individual basis in order to be able to play a full and active part in Fife Housing Association. There are opportunities to take part in the wider housing movement through conferences and seminars, and Board Members are encouraged to do so, particularly in areas which match their particular expertise or interest.

Would I get paid?

Board members are volunteers. Although all your expenses will be met, unfortunately Board membership doesn't pay - at least not financially! But you do gain a wealth of experience and the chance to really make a difference in your community and further afield.

I'm not a tenant of Fife Housing Association - am I eligible?

Non-tenant Board Members are a welcome part of our Board, but generally these members are expected to bring valuable skills or knowledge that will enhance the Board. The best thing to do is contact us to find out more.
